Construction and Design Features
Every Gem Pharma Tray Dryer is fabricated to meet the rigorous demands of pharmaceutical production:
Cabinet: The outer cabinet is constructed from SS304 with a pharmaceutical-grade matt finish. The internal chamber walls are in SS316 or SS316L, mirror-polished to Ra ≤ 0.6 µm for easy cleaning and corrosion resistance.
Insulation: High-density mineral wool or ceramic wool insulation (75 mm to 100 mm thick) minimises heat loss and ensures energy-efficient operation.
Air Handling Unit: A GMP-compliant AHU is side-mounted or top-mounted, housing the filter, heating elements, and a dynamically balanced backward-curved blower. The blower motor is externally mounted for heat isolation.
Heating System: Electric heaters with SS304 tubular elements or a steam radiator (SS316 tubes, SS304 fins) with condensate removal. Heater capacity is calculated based on moisture load.
Seals & Gaskets: All door seals and internal gaskets are FDA-compliant silicone or PTFE, resistant to high temperatures and chemical attack.

Our tray dryers are equipped with an advanced PLC-HMI control platform for total process control and documentation:
PID Temperature Control: Precise, auto-tuned control loop ensures the chamber temperature is maintained within a tight band.
Air Flow & Damper Control: Blower speed can be regulated through a VFD, and the exhaust damper can be manually or automatically positioned.
Timer & Sequence Logic: Pre-programmable drying cycles with ramp, soak, and cool-down phases.
Safety Interlocks: Door-open cut-off for blower and heater, over-temperature protection, and motor overload relays.
Data Recording: Real-time trending of temperature and other parameters. Batch reports with electronic signatures for 21 CFR Part 11 compliance (optional).
Alarms: Audio-visual alarms for temperature deviation, blower failure, and heater trip.
GMP Compliance and Safety Features
CIP Compatibility: Internally, the chamber is designed with coved corners and a sloped floor to drain water, making manual washing or integrated CIP spray bars effective.
HEPA Filtration: An optional terminal HEPA filter ensures that the air in contact with the product meets ISO 5 / Class 100 standards, critical for potent or sensitive APIs.
Flame-Proof Construction: For solvent-based products, we offer flame-proof motors, spark-proof construction, and pneumatic controls.
Validation Access Ports: Standard ports for thermocouple insertion allow for thermal mapping studies (empty and loaded chamber) to validate temperature distribution.
Single-Piece Gaskets: No crevices for product build-up.
