Automated Cleaning Solutions for Pharmaceutical Process Equipment
CIP and WIP Systems
Gem Pharma Machineries engineers and supplies fully automated Clean-in-Place (CIP) and Wash-in-Place (WIP) systems that ensure repeatable, validated cleaning of your critical process equipment. From a single mobile unit for a small-scale reactor to a multi-tank, skid-mounted CIP station serving an entire injectable or oral liquid facility, our systems eliminate the variability of manual cleaning, reduce downtime, and provide the documented proof of cleanliness required by global regulatory agencies.

Complete CIP/WIP Components
A Gem Pharma CIP system is a pre-engineered, skid-mounted assembly that integrates:
Chemical Storage Tanks: One or more insulated, SS316L tanks for fresh cleaning agent solutions (e.g., a caustic tank and an acid tank). Tanks are sized based on the total volume of your cleaning circuits.
Recovery / Recirculation Tanks: Dedicated tanks to hold and recirculate the detergent solutions, reducing chemical consumption and effluent.
Process Water Tank: A break tank to hold the rinse water (PW or WFI) before it is pumped into the circuit, preventing back-contamination of the plant water loop.
Supply Pump: A high-head, sanitary centrifugal pump (SS316L) sized to deliver the required flow and pressure at the furthest spray device, typically 2–3 bar(g) at the spray ball inlet.
Heat Exchanger: A shell-and-tube or plate-and-frame heat exchanger to heat the cleaning solutions and rinse water to the recipe set-point, using plant steam or hot water.

System Configurations
We design and build CIP systems to match your facility’s exact layout and production demands:
- Single-Tank Mobile CIP Unit
- Single-Tank Stationary System
- Multi-Tank Centralised CIP Skid
- WIP Panel
Spray Devices and Coverage
Effective cleaning begins with complete surface coverage. We integrate the correct spray devices into your process equipment, ensuring they are part of the CIP system’s design:
Static Spray Balls
Rotary Spray Heads
Riboflavin Coverage Testing
Materials and Construction
All product contact surfaces (tanks, pipes, pump internals, heat exchanger) in SS316L (1.4404) with Ra ≤ 0.8 µm, and electropolished to Ra ≤ 0.4 µm for sterile systems.
Documentation and Validation support
We provide a full turnkey documentation package to support your cleaning validation:
URS, FDS, and detailed P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram)
Spray ball placement drawings and coverage calculations
Material and weld traceability certificates
FAT protocol including a water run, functional test, and leak test
IQ and OQ protocols
Cleaning validation support, including riboflavin coverage test documentation and conductivity/TOC correlation data
